???? CCMS FAMILY UPDATE: PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES | NOVEMBER 4 & 5

Dear CCMS Families,

As we continue through the second quarter, we want to share important information about our upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 5, 2026.

???? IMPORTANT: BOTH DAYS ARE MINIMUM DAYS!

⏰ All students will be dismissed at 12:00 PM (noon) on Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday, November 5.

Please make the necessary arrangements for your child's transportation, pickup, and supervision following dismissal.

These minimum days provide our teachers with dedicated time to meet with families, review student progress, and develop meaningful plans to support student success.

With approximately two months remaining before the end of the semester, now is the time to take action, not wait until it is too late!

WHY DO PARENT CONFERENCES LOOK DIFFERENT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL?

Unlike elementary school, where teachers typically meet with every family, middle school conferences follow a more targeted, team based approach.

Thanks to valuable feedback from our families and staff, we recognize the importance of making the most of our limited conference time.

Rather than scheduling brief meetings with every family, we are prioritizing students who would benefit most from additional academic support, guidance, accountability, and that extra push to finish the semester strong.

Our teaching teams regularly review student progress, including academics, attendance, and behavior, to identify where additional support can make the greatest difference.

This approach allows us to dedicate meaningful time to families, engage students in the conversation, and work collaboratively to develop an action plan with clear responsibilities and follow through.

A CONFERENCE INVITATION IS NOT A PUNISHMENT!

If you receive a phone call inviting you to a parent conference, please know that this is NOT a disciplinary meeting, a punishment, or a sign that your child is failing.

Instead, it means we recognize an opportunity to provide your child with additional support before small challenges become bigger obstacles.

At CCMS, we believe in being proactive rather than reactive. We would much rather have a productive conversation today than a difficult conversation when the semester is ending and opportunities for improvement have become limited.

Our goal is not to assign blame, focus on mistakes, or create fear. Instead, we want to:

✅ Celebrate your child's strengths and progress.

✅ Identify areas where additional support or improvement is needed.

✅ Listen to your family's perspective and concerns.

✅ Develop a realistic action plan with clear expectations.

✅ Establish shared responsibilities for students, families, and teachers.

✅ Create opportunities to follow up, monitor progress, and celebrate growth.

Conferences are about partnership, not punishment. They are about solutions, not excuses.

WHAT WILL CONFERENCES LOOK LIKE?

Families selected for a formal conference will be contacted by our school team to schedule a meeting.

Conferences will be approximately 30 minutes and will follow a team based format involving the parent or guardian, the student, and school representatives.

Students are expected to attend their conferences alongside their parents or guardians.

We believe middle school students must be active participants in understanding their progress, taking ownership of their responsibilities, and identifying steps they can take to improve.

Together, we will focus on three important questions:

1. What can our student commit to doing differently?
2. How can families provide meaningful support at home?
3. What can teachers and the school do to help our student succeed?

Every member of the team has an important role to play!

WHAT IF MY FAMILY DOES NOT RECEIVE A CONFERENCE INVITATION?

Please do not interpret the absence of an invitation as a lack of importance or an indication that your involvement is no longer needed.

Every CCMS family matters, and every student's success remains our priority.

Our targeted conference model simply allows us to prioritize students who would benefit most from additional support at this point in the semester.

Families are always encouraged to contact their child's teachers directly with questions, concerns, or requests for additional support.

You do not need to wait for a formal conference invitation to have an important conversation about your child's education.

WHAT CAN ALL FAMILIES DO RIGHT NOW?

✅ Check PowerSchool regularly. Review grades, missing assignments, and academic progress before the semester ends.

✅ Check your child's agenda and backpack. Help your child develop the organizational habits needed to succeed.

✅ Talk to your child every day. Ask about successes, challenges, assignments, and goals.

✅ Communicate with teachers. Reach out directly when concerns arise. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response.

✅ Help your child take ownership. Middle school is an important time to develop responsibility, accountability, and independence.

✅ Do not wait! We still have time to make meaningful improvements, but that requires action and consistency from everyone.

OUR SHARED COMMITMENT: NO SURPRISES!

As we emphasized during our recent Family Data Night, we want families to have a clear understanding of their child's academic progress, attendance, and behavior throughout the school year.

We do not want anyone to reach the end of the semester wishing they had known sooner or taken action earlier.

Two months can make a tremendous difference when students, families, and teachers work together with purpose.

Our students are growing into young adults, and part of that journey is learning accountability, responsibility, and the importance of asking for help.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing feedback, trust, and partnership. Your voices help us continue improving how we support our Dolphins.

Our commitment remains the same: to develop confident, responsible young leaders who understand that challenges are opportunities for growth and that success requires effort, accountability, and teamwork.

Let's work together to finish the semester strong!

One School. One Family. One Commitment to Student Success!
